Mixed, cross-sectional study of factors associated with first-time enrollment at a public technological institution in the Altas Montañas region of Veracruz. Phase 1 (quantitative) analyzed records from the Computer Systems Engineering program (2022-1 to 2025-1) and estimated a representative sample of 229 cases. Phase 2 (qualitative), currently underway, will delve into the perceptions of applicants and institutional stakeholders through semi-structured surveys and interviews. Phase- 1 findings show higher intake during natural admission periods; moreover, perceived employability (P1_b) and interest in programming and technology (P1_a) are the main motivators. In institutional choice, geographic proximity, prestige, and affordability stand out; high-school talks and social networks operate as key outreach channels. We propose actions to strengthen targeted promotion, build articulation with upper secondary education, and improve the admission experience, accompanied by monitoring indicators for evaluation.
